HICKEY BLVD (2024)
Hickey Blvd is a durational work that explores mark making, the body as a canvas, the mouth as a paintbrush. This work has manifestations ranging from Lex classified ads to large-scale weavings & photo books.
TC2 Weaving, 2023 62”x56”
As a continuation of Hickey Blvd, I used the TC2 loom to weave the longest lasting hickey from my series. A scan as a documentation of a penetrated but kept whole surface, a flattening. Instead of an image existing just on the surface, it is made whole through weaving, dimensional mark making. Threads lifting and lowering to allow an image to come through, one always dominating, turn taking, a switch. An image transformed into a sculpture, each thread relying on another to transmit information. A hickey as a temporary permanence made permanent.
