Who I Am.

Eel Costello (they) is a queer interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Upstate NY, most recently residing in Los Angeles and New York City.

They hold a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a recent MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

what i do.

Eel’s work documents and celebrates the queer community and how we hold ourselves and each other as we navigate what we leave behind. They work predominantly with wood, fiber, clay and found objects as a metaphor for and in relation to the body.

Their work explores the softness found within tension, fine lines surrounding pleasure, and the precarity of a surfaces permeability.
