I swim out to the edge of the water and float until my body gets too cold. With boats put away for the season, the underwater engine hum is missing. It is so peaceful, so smooth— my favorite time of year for silence in the water. So quiet I can only hear the beating of my own heart, weightless in the water, kissed by the sun and I wonder if this is how the fish feel.

I have been exploring mark making, the body as a canvas, the mouth as a paintbrush. What we leave behind and what we take with us. When does a performance end? Is it when the audience leaves, or the marks fade from your body? A level of control needed in play, an awareness of power and a knowledge of the fine line between pleasure and pain, the sweetness in that space, all relative. A temporary permanence, a reminder on your neck like a healing tattoo, a space held in a grip, a holding that lasts longer than the night did.
